services were held for Jerry David Montgomery at the Wetumka Church of
Christ on Oct. 19, 2016. Interment followed at the Wetumka Cemetery.
Jerry was born June 15, 1946 in Richmond, California to Edward
Montgomery and Lois Phillips Montgomery and died Oct. 14, 2016 at Mercy
Hospital surrounded by his two daughters.
He was the third born of four children, older sister Glenda,
brother Ron and younger sister Kathleen. He was raised in the Moss area,
where he graduated high school. After some college at East Central
University and Oklahoma University, he opted to began his career as a
Boilermaker with his father.
His work had afforded him the opportunity to travel and see the
world, where he met his wife Phyllis Montgomery. They wed on January 16,
1970. Their 47 year marriage brought about three daughters: Kim, Dana
and Brooke who in turn gave them eight grandchildren: Alex, Mya,
Natalie, Isabella, Cainan, Maxwell, Georgianna and Ava. He became
affectionately known as Grumpy, a name he wore with much pride.
Jerry had a love for the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and
simply watching deer. His blood ran Crimson Red for his love of the
Oklahoma Sooners. Services were under the direction of
Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka
